Weekly summaries of robotics papers that move from simulation to a real robot.

About this site and its method

sim2real.world publishes weekly summaries of robotics papers that move from simulation to a real robot. It also keeps a gap index: a structured record of what each paper reports in simulation, what it reports on hardware, and what it leaves out.

How a paper is chosen

Papers come from an arXiv search, most recent first. The gap index searches for "sim-to-real" and "sim2real". Weekly entries also search for "sim-to-sim", prefer abstracts that state a number, and take three papers not covered before. Venue, citation count and author are not used. The result is a sample of recent preprints, not a survey of the field.

How numbers are verified

In the gap index, every value carries a verbatim quote. The quote is checked against the paper's own text, ignoring case, spacing and dash style. A row whose quote cannot be found is dropped. A blank cell means the paper does not report it. A gap in percentage points appears only when both sides give a single success rate. Other metrics are listed but never converted into a percentage.

Weekly entries are written from the arXiv abstract. They are drafted and approved before publication.

The gap index

Each row holds the arXiv id, title, task, hardware, simulator and transfer method, the simulated and real results with their quotes, and the metrics the paper does not report. Each paper has a record at /p/ followed by its arXiv id. The data is licensed CC BY 4.0. Read the index or download gaps.json.

How to cite

Cite the paper for the result. Cite the gap record for the structured comparison, for example: sim2real.world, gap index record for arXiv:2610.38234, https://sim2real.world/p/2610.38234/.

Limits

The only sources are arXiv abstracts and paper text. Preprints may not be peer reviewed, and this site does not review them. A number shown only in a figure is not captured, and long papers may be read only in part. Results are as the authors report them. Nothing here is reproduced.
